Description:Electricians not only light homes and power industry, but also harness energy, and even charge your car. Our ever-increasing reliance on electricity is driving the need for skilled electrical workers, and now more than ever there are opportunities in this exciting field. This program prepares you to enter an electrical apprenticeship in construction (309A) or industrial (442A) sectors, or to work in other electrical-related fields, in manufacturing, supply chain, fire alarm or renewable energy. If you enjoy creative problem solving, working with your hands and exploring innovative technology, this is the program for you.

This Ontario College diploma program offers completion in two-years, or in two-and-a-half years, when following the optional co-op stream. You will learn electrical theory, code regulations and blueprint reading throughout the program. Your extensive shop time will include a progression through residential, commercial and industrial wiring methods. In addition, you will develop an understanding of control strategies and technology in motors, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and automation shops.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older with mature student status (See Mature Student definition for details.), Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1270), and Grade 12 Mathematics, C or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics (MATH1420).

Additional Admission Requirements:
    To be considered for admission to the co-op stream, students are required to achieve a minimum 65% session weighted average and no failures in any ELEC, ELCN or INST courses.
